The 2009 Student Advisory Board on Legislation in Education (SABLE) is an unprecedented opportunity for students to directly express their views to the State Senate Education Committee. In the face of our state's financial crisis, students at SABLE will analyze the effect of budget cuts on our public schools, and share their ideas with top officials in Sacramento.

SABLE will convene February 23-25 in Sacramento. While the program is usually open to past CASC delegates, the magnitude of this historic event calls for open attendance for students from across the state. Participation is very selective, and we encourage all students to apply for a chance to be a delegate.

Delegates to SABLE will:

  • Join an action network of student advocates working to improve education.
  • Have direct access to key legislators and other advocacy groups in Sacramento
  • Develop ideas for future CASC-sponsored legislation
  • Build upon the ideas presented to the State Board of Education last November
  • Be part of a defining moment in our state's history
