CASC seeks to create an environment in schools and communities which supports effective youth leadership and involvement in decision making. We strive to increase collaboration between young people and adults in addressing the emerging challenges of this century. We are interested in developing the leadership potential of all youth. To these ends, CASC devotes a portion of its time to designing and coordinating special projects targeted at entire student bodies, faculty and staff, parents, and community organizations. The results speak for themselves in the pilot projects we have undertaken. Some of our special projects emphasize the following:
Strategic Planning
Teams have time to develop rapport, formulate a common vision, and set goals, objectives and action plans.
Team Building
Working together to solve simulated problems provides an opportunity for participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses in group activities. Techniques for developing cohesive teams are shared.
Leadership and Management Skills
Self-assessment of current skills provides a basis for improving capacity to plan, organize, monitor, and seek solutions in organizational settings. Leadership skills in setting direction, inspiring others, aligning others and learning continuously are also developed.
Presentation Skills
Participants identify what they would like to improve, prepare presentations and receive feedback from others via observation and video taping.
Meeting Management
Helping individuals learn how to develop agendas, facilitate and record meetings is one of CASC specialties.
Conflict Resolution and Mediation
CASC works in collaboration with community mediator trainers to provide up to 15 hours of training in communication and mediation.
